Prints affixed to the inside of a book\u2019s front cover to indicate its owner\u2014internationally known as\u00a0EX-LIBRIS<\/strong>\u2014are on display at the Hambis Printmaking Museum in Platanisteia, Limassol.<\/p>\n The exhibition opens with a brief historical overview (16th\u201321st century), beginning with handwritten ex-libris and tracing their evolution, particularly in state and municipal libraries: from a simple stamp bearing the name of the library, institution, or association, to the development of small printed bookplates pasted onto the endpaper or the first blank page before the title page. These include coats of arms (the emblem of an aristocratic family), names accompanied by mottos and\/or symbolic imagery.<\/p>\n Ex-libris created using the techniques of\u00a0etching<\/strong>,\u00a0woodcut<\/strong>,\u00a0zin<\/strong>cography<\/strong> and\u00a0linocut<\/strong>\u00a0are exhibited. Also on display are\u00a0\u201csex-Libris\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and small-format occasional prints, such as original engraved Christmas and New Year greeting cards, as well as wedding invitations.<\/p>\n The exhibition is curated by\u00a0H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Reeb<\/strong>.
