M. CHOUROV

A Russian painter and printmaker whose works often circulated under abbreviated or variant forms of his surname. He was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR and an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, trained at the Ryazan Art‑Pedagogical College, and active in exhibitions from 1928 onward. His long career included decades as a restorer at the Tretyakov Gallery, where he developed a deep sensitivity to technique and material. His own artistic output spans landscapes, genre scenes, and atmospheric studies of rural and industrial life, marked by a quiet lyricism and a grounded sense of place. His legacy rests in the combination of technical discipline, observational clarity, and a distinctly human warmth that runs through his paintings.
